Questions
Q:
How does Guideposts use charitable gifts?
A:
The scope of
Guideposts’ Outreach Ministries may surprise you. We touch the lives
of people around the globe from all walks of life, including: the
elderly, the sick, children and teens, our armed service men and
women, individuals struggling with addiction, prisoners, and others
dealing with life’s challenges. Each in their own way benefits from
Guideposts messages and from programs delivered by our caring
Outreach Ministries staff.
Thousands of individual prayer requests are prayed for daily by our
prayer ministry staff and volunteers. Over four million free
publications are delivered each year to people who may not otherwise
have access. Young people are given a safe environment online for
support during a vulnerable time of life. Children, who may
otherwise go without, receive sweaters hand-knit or crocheted by Guideposts
readers and volunteers. All of this is made possible only
because of contributions from generous donors.

Questions
Q:
What is the
connection between Guideposts and Norman Vincent Peale?
A: Dr. Norman
Vincent Peale was a Christian pastor and one of the most influential
thinkers and communicators of our time. People all around the world
credit Dr. Peale and his teachings with bringing happiness and
success to their lives. For years Dr. Peale shared his principles at
the Marble Collegiate Church in New York City and through speeches,
radio messages, and his international best-seller The Power of
Positive Thinking.
Over 50 years
ago Dr. Peale and his wife Ruth Stafford Peale founded Guideposts as
a way of reaching more people with their life-changing messages.
Today, Guideposts preserves and extends the vision of Dr. and Mrs.
Peale. We carry on the publications that people have turned to for
years. We continue to find new ways to reach today’s audiences, such
as through phone lines and Web sites. True to the spirit of the Dr.
and Mrs. Peale, the charitable programs of our Outreach Ministries
help assure that people from all walks of life have access to our
services, including those with limited resources or other
challenges.
